CHINIGCHINICH

Juaneño/Acjachemen Population God

Population God

Owiot was the son of the Sky God but he pined away before he could find a mate.

Some spirits made him a grand funeral pyre which attracted the attention of Coyote, who could not resist nicking a tasty tidbit. For him it was barbecue heaven. As he licked his lips, a scrap of skin fell to earth, turning into Chinigchinich, the offspring Owiot had always wanted.

It seems that even the name was pre-planned (otherwise we would have ended up with Owiot Junior or Owiot The Second). Once on earth, the newly-constituted God wasted no time waiting for the right girl to come along like his father. He went straight into procreation using the well-formulated mud doll technique.
