The Gods and Spirits of Melanesia

OMA RUMUFA

Siane Supreme God

Also known as Black Way, Fo

A deity who just gets on with it

He belongs to the Siane people of Papua New Guinea. Or they belong to him. He is their Supreme Deity of Everything but seems to keep a low profile running the Universe behind the scenes.

He is not worshiped or adored so much as completely ignored. The Siane know he is there in the background and they just let him get on with it. There’s no need for any further fuss.

He may have been the first all-in-one Background God. It keeps life so simple. Just one Being to blame or praise for absolutely anything.
