SAKATA

Hindu Demon

Also known as Sakatasura, Saktasura

Baby-killing cart demon

He was another of the ill-fated demons who tried to kill the baby Krishna. This was a futile thing to attempt — from earliest infancy Krishna was more than capable of knocking hell out of any demon.

Well, one day Krishna was sleeping in the shade under a fully-laden wagon. Sakata added his magically enhanced weight so the wagon would collapse and crush the child. Krishna opened one sleepy eye gave a swift godly kick with one of his tiny toes.

The whole wagon flipped over and you know who was now underneath. The silly demon was crushed to death.
