The colorful deities and demons of India...

HIRANYAKASHIPU

Hindu Demon

Also known as Hiranyakasipu

A demon who had somehow wrangled an invulnerability clause from the Gods so they could not kill him

Being a Demon, this made his behavior even more demonic than usual. It was Vishnu who cut him down to size and less.

He did this by turning himself into a Man-Lion called Narasimha, in which guise he declared himself no longer a God and was therefore quite at liberty to zap the demon. Which he did.
