The colorful deities and demons of India...

ATRI

Hindu Divination God

One of the Seven Seers

As a member of the Prajâpatis Universal Order Society founded by Brahma, it is his job to give everything a good seeing-to, and to make sure it stays in place. Especially the sun. We can’t have that falling into the Underworld.

He had to do this by total concentration, willpower and watchfulness. This does at times lead to his eyes watering, and it is said that his tears are distilled from the purest Soma.

So who knows — if you are standing in the right place at the right time and allowing for evaporation, the eeniest weeniest droplet of Soma might just miss you by a millimeter. Whatever you do, don’t let the Asuras know about this.
