PALLAS (2)

Greek Unknown Goddess

A tragedy too terrible to discuss

She was a female friend of Athena who got killed in a tragic accident whilst playing around.

In sorrow, Athena may have built the Palladium as a tribute. She may also have adopted the name PALLAS-ATHENA for the same reason.

But see our entry on Pallas for an alternative explanation. The word Pallein means to brandish — and Athena was well known for her spear brandishing.
