DORIS

Greek Sea Goddess

Sea Goddess and mother of the Nereids

The daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, she is the wife of Nereus and mother of the fifty Nereids. Her name means ‘abundance’ which is not surprising.

One of her daughters, Thetis, gave birth to Achilles and another, Amphitrite, became Mrs Poseidon.
