Egyptian information

Actually, she’s also a bit of a riddle. The Sphinx is a winged lion with an impressive bust and what was presumably the most fashionable head of the day. The ancient Egyptian Lady Gaga? Elizabast Taylor? J-Lopatra?

So far identification has proved elusive. She could even be a male named Harmakhis. Who knows the answer? See also our Greek entry Sphinx.
