St. ZDISLAVA BERKA

Christian Saint

Wife of Bohemian Count of Lembeck

She had four children and prayed a lot. He did not have much time for this sort of thing.

She opened the castle to refugees fleeing the Tartars and he rolled his eyes and sighed a lot. Then he had a vision that a child they had sheltered was really Jesus, so he let her join a Dominican order.

She went on to build a convent — working at the site herself hauling heavy timbers about.
