St. WITHBURGA

Christian Saint

Also known as Wihtburh, Withburga Of Dereham, Withburge

She laid the foundations for a church, and also a nunnery in Dereham, Norfolk

Interred at Dereham church which must have been almost there, her body was found fifty-five years later to be in almost perfect condition.

One hundred and seventy-six years later, there was more building and renovation but the corpse was still doing well. All her limbs were still quite bendy. It was then decided to move her to Ely Cathedral.

She may well have a Holy Well at Dereham.
