St. WILLIAM OF ROSKILDE

Christian Saint

Bishop and friend of King Swend of Denmark

It was not an easy friendship. When Swend married his own stepdaughter, our Saint could not accept it, any more than Swend thinking it was quite in order to order the murder of those who insulted him.

William had to bar him from mass until repentance had been performed. Surprisingly Swend agreed and was absolved. Being free from all guilt he could hang out with his old buddy again.

This is the way it was until Swend died. Our Bishop was so upset he laid down and died as well.
