St. WILGEFORTIS

Christian Saint

Also known as Uncumber

Daughter of the King of Spain

Betrothed to the King of Sicily she settled for saintly virginity and promptly grew a miraculous beard to gain a swift rejection.

Her furious father promptly had her crucified. She may feature in a nursery rhyme about a nutmeg tree. If so we have no idea why.
