St. PHILIP NERI

Christian Saint

Patron Saint of Rome

Founder of Oratorians.

Starting as a humble hermit in an attic, he decided to hit the streets of Rome and hold prayer and discussion groups. These culminated in trips to local shrines and churches.

Never one to stand on ceremony, he was fond of practical jokes and clowning around. On one occasion he even cut off half his beard to raise a laugh.
