St. MONICA
Christian Saint
Also known as Monica Of Hippo
Patron Saint of Married Women, Mothers and Widows
Widow and single parent mum of the great St. Augustine of Hippo.
When her husband died, she was left with a son. Not just any old son, but one who became famous. At first St. Augustine pursued heresy, but his mother chased after him brandishing Christianity.
There is no doubt who won the inevitable mother/son clash. She is now the Patron of Mothers and Widows.
