St. MINIAS OF FLORENCE

Christian Saint

Also known as Miniatus, San Miniato

Florentine Martyr

He survived the wild beasts of the Amphitheatre so it was just a routine beheading — or would have been had he not calmly picked up his own severed head.

He then carried it to the summit of the hill where a church dedicated to him now stands.
