St. MARY MAGDALEN POSTEL

Christian Saint

Founder of the Sisters of Mary Magdalene

During the French Revolution she had to maintain a hidden chapel, and her struggling community endured poverty and political hardship.

When times improved, the Order she founded was actually the Sisters of Christian Schools of Mercy. By the time she finished there were 150 teachers.

Her own name was used posthumously in recognition of her services as the Order continued to flourish.
