St. JUTHWARE

Christian Saint

Also known as Juthwara

'The Quiet Woman' from Halstock in Dorset, England

She is depicted on the sign of an inn of that name holding her own head.

She gave hospitality to pilgrims — something her brother deeply resented. One day in a fury he cut off her head.

She calmly picked it up and carried it to the local church where she laid it on the altar and quietly expired. We don’t know who mopped up all the blood.
