St. JOHN BOSCO

Christian Saint

Patron Saint of Editors

Founder of the Salesians. Coming from a poor background, he had a dream of a school for Dead End Kids.

Attract them with juggling, sport and inspired teachers, he said. Neighbors and friends said he was mad and tried to get him committed as insane.

But he had been ordained as a priest, and visions were holy stock in trade. So he pressed on with the ‘Angels with Dirty Faces’ scenario, which soon became the ‘Angels Wash Their Faces’ success.

By the time of his death there were 768 Salesian members with schools worldwide.
