St. JOHN BAPTIST DE LA SALLE

Christian Saint

Also known as Jean-Baptiste De La Salle

Patron Saint of Principals and School Teachers

Educational Reformer in France.

Asked to help open a school for poor boys, he gave more than was bargained for.

Appalled at how useless the teachers were, he started the Brothers of Christian Schools, recruiting real teachers who were not priests.

He made many educational reforms such as abolishing teaching in Latin. He also introduced group classes and teacher-training schemes.
