St. HEDWIG

Christian Saint

Also known as Hedwig Of Silesia, Hedwiges

Duchess of Poland married to Duke Henry of Silesia

After six children she not surprisingly took a vow of abstinence and got the Duke interested in founding and building the great Monastery at Trebnitz.

This took fifteen years using petty criminals as laborers in the first Community Service Project. Meanwhile she became steadily holier, going barefoot and never changing her habit.

Sadly her eldest son, the next in line for Dukedom, was killed trying to keep invading Tartars at bay. She was forced to flee to a fortress at Chrosne and was never able to return.
