Patron Saint of Authors, Writers, Journalists and the Press
Bishop and Founder of the Visitation Order for Strong Souls in Weak Bodies (i.e. women). This resulted in twenty convents for the laity.
Known as ‘The Gentleman of God’, he was also the best-selling author of ‘Introduction to the Devout Life’, even though the Calvinists were very critical of his tolerance of dancing and jokes.
As well as being Patron Saint of Writers, he also looks after the deaf.
