Patron Saint of Sore Throats

Saxon princess in East Anglia.

She built a monastery on the West bank of the River Ouse where she ruled as abbess until she died of plague.

Her specialist subject is the cure of sore throats, and a blessing to mark the subject is held every year at the church named after her in Ely Place, London.
