The princess of King Pedro III, she was known as the ‘Peacemaker’, being very adept at bringing about reconciliations and ending squabbles.

When widowed, she entered a Franciscan tertiary and is now the Patron Saint of Portugal.

Her tact and diplomacy also made her the perfect patron for Charity Workers and Victims of Adultery, Infidelity or Jealousy.
