St. ELEUTHERIUS OF TOURNAI

Christian Saint

Refugee Bishop of Tournai

When the Governor was banished from the city most of the Christian community fled to Blandinum. Which was safe even if it was a bit bland.

Here our Saint was elected Bishop of Tournai even if he couldn’t go there. Except that he did try to cure the daughter of the latest Governor, but was then accused of causing a plague and had to flee back to Blandinum.

Eventually the Governor had a change of heart and said the Bishop could return, but on the very day he arrived he was attacked and killed by Arians opposed to orthodoxy.
