St. DEICOLUS

Christian Saint

Also known as Déicole

Hermit in Burgundy

That’s the place, not the color. On a pilgrimage he was too exhausted to carry on. Would the nearby church offer his some temporary respite? Nope. The local chaplain didn’t want a hermit anywhere near his congregation and barricaded the chapel with thorn bushes.

But after good deeds and some healing miracles, the chaplain changed his mind. Our Saint was given the chapel and eventually enough land to build the Abbey of Lure.
