St. DAMIEN OF MOLOKAI

Christian Saint

Also known as Damien De Veuster

Patron Saint of Lepers, and those afflicted with HIV and AIDs

He was a Belgian priest who devoted his life to dealing with the horrors of leprosy with lepers in the colonies.

In 1885 he himself was afflicted with this terrible disease, but in turn the help and devotion he received made him ‘the happiest missionary in the world’.

Nowadays he is also delighted to be the Patron Saint of people with HIV and AIDs.
