St. CYRIL OF JERUSALEM

Christian Saint

Highly respected theologian of Jerusalem and venerated Doctor of the Church

. He publicized his ‘Holy City’ as the pilgrimage center for all of Christendom.

Part of his publicity campaign was the sighting related thus:

“A vast luminous body in the form of a cross appeared in the heavens, just over Holy Golgotha, reaching as far as the Holy Mount of Olives, seen not by one or two persons, but clearly and evidently by the whole city?”

He was also very keen on baptism and wrote twenty-three catechetical lectures appertaining to the same.
