This was a very dangerous occupation at the time as England was very anti-Catholic.

He was arrested after the Titus Oates plot was fabricated to stir up even more hatred. King Louis XIV managed to intervene and had him extradited to France and saved him from a death worse than fate.

He decided to die from natural causes shortly after.
