St. BERNADETTE

Christian Saint

Also known as Bernadette Of Lourdes, Bernadette Soubirous

Girl who started the celebrity cures at Lourdes

A young nun, she was poor, humble and extremely unwell. In fact she lurched from one health crisis to the next.

To sustain her in her holy efforts, she had eighteen visions of the Virgin St. Mary in the now famous grotto at Lourdes. This is now the tourist attraction shrine where the differently-abled go for ‘the Cure.’

Sadly for Bernadette, there was no ultimate cure for her and she died of chronic illnesses aged thirty-five.
