St. BASIL OF ANCYRA
Christian Saint
Priest and martyr of flesh-wounds
He came up against Emperor Julian who sentenced him to a most vile torture: having bits of flesh torn off him every day unless he recanted Christianity.
The saint never would back down, and even threw strips of his flesh at the Emperor which did not help his cause.
Still, Julian himself was dead a year later so who knows.
