St. ATHANASIUS

Christian Saint

Bishop of Alexandria, but not on a permanent basis

It all depended on the whims of various Emperors.

Not to mention his battles with the Arians and the whole ‘was Jesus God or Man or God-Man or Man-God or what?’ conflicts so very popular at the time.

He is now revered as the great ‘Champion of the Faith’, having battled Arianism even to the point of persecution and exile.
