St. ANDREW FOURNET

Christian Saint

Also known as André-Hubert Fournet, Andrew Hubert Fournet

Co-founder of The Daughters of the Cross

Another irresponsible youth whom everyone gave up on — apart from an uncle who was a pastor in a poor parish. So yes — priesthood followed (well, he couldn’t hold down any sort of job).

He was doing quite well until the French Revolution came and the clergy were not popular. He carried on working under cover, even pretending to be a corpse on one occasion to escape detection.

After the hard times came to an end, he met one Elizabeth Bichier, and together they founded their movement for teaching and nursing.
