St. JOHN OF FIESOLE

Christian Saint

Also known as Fra Angelico, Fra Giovanni Da Fiesole, Guido Di Pietro

Patron Saint of Artists

Dominican Friar and Artist from Friesole. He could ‘paint like an angel’ said critics of the day. Not that many angels have been seen with paintbrushes.

After painting fifty frescoes in Florence, his fame spread and he was commissioned by the Vatican.

His magnificent and opulent works pleased the Pope so well that a sainthood was the obvious reward.
