SRUNG-MA

Tibetan (Bon) Protection Deity

Also known as Srungma

Ghostly deities of Protection in Tibetan Bon

They appear to have started out as quite scary figures from the original Tibetan Bon religion, being the restless spirits of people who had died an unnatural death. Only later they became absorbed into the niceness of Buddhist thought.
