MAITREYA

Indian Happiness God

Smiling Buddha of the Future

Get back to the future with this cheerful Buddha. He is a delightfully happy — and very rotund — figure. It seems that in the future, everyone will be smiling and possess a large belly.

Maitreya means ‘Loving One’ and there’s lots to love about him too. He is persistently popular and you’ll find statues of him everywhere.

His Chinese equivalent is Milo Fo.
