DAINICHI

Japanese Supreme God

Also known as Dainichi-Nyorai

Japanese subtitled version of the Buddha Vairocana

He is the supreme Buddha of the Shingon Buddhist sect.

Incomprehensively wise, this Japanese incarnation of Vairocana holds his left index finger, wears a crown (sometimes with a dog’s head in it) and meditates. What can he be thinking?
