BHAISAJYAGURU

Buddhist Healer God

Also known as Bhaisajya-Guru

The Medicine Buddha

The Buddha will see you now. He’s a God of Healing, the Tibetan incarnation of Yakushi Nyorai. As soon as he joined the Buddhas he became chief doctor of the Eastern Pure Land. Now he diagnoses spiritual problems and cures suffering by the power of his wisdom.

Some of his old prescriptions have been discovered in the form of the Medicine Buddha text. This dates from the seventh century and is called the Bhaiṣajyaguruvaiḑūryaprabhārāja Sutra. That is the kind of title which would probably cure anything.
