The Gods and Bodhisvattas of Enlightenment...

ANANDA

Indian Wisdom God

First cousin and beloved disciple of Buddha

A close associate and personal assistant of Buddha, he did his bit for equality by persuading Gautama to allow women to become nuns.

It took him ages to achieve Enlightenment — he didn’t manage it until after his master had died. He was probably distracted by all the administration and paperwork.

In the story of Monkey he tried to cheat Tripitaka out of the Holy Scriptures, but only to make a philosophical point.
