MAR'RALLANG

Australian Aboriginal legendary women

Also known as Marrallang Sisters

Double trouble

The Mar’rallang sisters were two twin girls who were so alike they shared the same name. They also had the hots for the same man, a fellow named Waiyungari. They liked him so much they transformed into emus and chased after him.

Apparently he was unable or unwilling to resist their charms, although we are not sure if he was particularly attracted to emus.

It is tricky to see this leading to marital bliss. However it was not to be. Waiyungari’s brother discovered the naughty liaison and set fire to the hut.

The sexy trio escaped to the sky – Waiyungari became the red star Antares flanked by his sexy starry girlfriends. Most sources appear to find all this of deep symbolic magnitude.
