THIXO

Xhosa Creator God

Also known as Tiko, Uthixo

Sun God and defender of itchy noses

Thixo is not a brand of adhesive but a Creator Sun God. He is a regional version of creator deity Tsui-goab. He is also known as – or may possibly be the father of – Qamatha.

According to writer Nomboniso Gasa, his name is most frequently invoked when sneezing. Thus: “Atchooo! Thixo!”.

If you have a cold, no doubt he will bless you with mighty blessings.
