The Gods and Spirits of Africa

RUGABA

Ankore Creator God

The Giver of Smiles

He is the Top God of the Ankore people, the creator, the giver and – if necessary – the punisher.

Rugaba’s smile brings life, but if you see him frown, sickness or death awaits. In his Sun God mode, he is known as KAZOOBA, while he is also known further afield as Ruhanga.

Like many Top Gods, he tends to delegate the day-to-day work. There are the Emandwa, protective spirits, and the Emizimu, ancestral spirits. Like opposing political parties, these spend most of their time trying to score points off each other, leaving Rugaba to deal with what he feels is important.

Our advice is to bypass the middle-men and go straight to the top.
