ALOUROUA

Baule Creator God

Picture of the African Creator God Alouroua from our African mythology image library. Illustration by Chas Saunders.

Creator God of the Baule people

He is all-powerful but extremely shy. No-one knows what he looks like, and no-one is allowed to know either. That must make life tricky for the priests. The guy in the corner with the paper bag over his head could be your Lord and Master.

Don’t you dare peek behind the mask. It’s more than our job’s worth to give you an artist’s impression.
