St. JEROME
Christian Saint
Patron Saint of Librarians, Scholars and Students
As a Doctor of the Church he was commissioned by Pope St. Damasus I to revise and correct the Gospels. The New Testament was already in Latin but the Old Testament was still in Hebrew.
Usually depicted poring over musty old documents with a skull on his desk, he seems to have had a very tetchy disposition.
In his early days he had done a stint in the desert and knew a thing or two about ‘temptation tripping’. Perhaps he missed it.
