HELEN

Greek legendary mortal

Of Troy. The face that launched a thousand ships

She was a daughter of Zeus via Leda laying an egg. Naturally he wished to keep very quiet about this and came to an arrangement with Tyndareous, King of the Spartans, to do the fatherhood honors.

Helen grew up to be astonishingly beautiful and this was her downfall — also the downfall of Troy due to the manipulations of Eris.

However, it was very good news for Homer and all lovers of sublime tragic literature.
